15th August 2010 : Talent contest held
Consistent interaction with children made us realize how talented and creative they are. We were pleasantly surprised to know that. Hence, we decided to organize a talent contest for them. It was conducted by enthusiastic IIT powai students who created enjoyable activities for children. We all wanted to bring their creativity to the fore. We had quite a few competitions organized – drawing competition, speech competition, antakshari, etc. This has definitely been one of Tarang’s most successful events. In fact, it is a milestone achievement for the people of Tarang.
The kids were hyper excited and elated. They actively participated in all the competitions. It truly brought out the best in them. We were actually amazed by their talent and energy. Incidentally, there lies a huge untapped pool of talent in India. Tarang endeavours to discover this hidden talent through its activities and actions.
The speech competition gave kids a chance to get over their fears and inhibitions. It helped them fight stage fright. It helped them combat stage fear. It made them believe in themselves. As a matter of fact, young kids are usually inhibited and fearful. They are hesitant to try new things. Talent contests give them a platform to express their individuality and creativity.
It was a heart-warming to hear them share their experiences and express their gratitude. Everything was properly managed by Amit , Deepa Nandi and our coordinator Reena. We are looking forward for such joyful activities to explore hidden potential of children.
